Sale record of personal property from an estate, 1821- .

The probate court may order the sale of personal property of a decedent upon application by the executor or administrator under certain conditions (see Ala. Code, 43-2-410 [1975]). This series consists of documents that record the sale of personal property. Information is on two facing pages and includes the estate administrator's petition, and an approval and record of the sale certified by the probate judge. The opposite page lists the articles sold, purchaser's name, and amount received. This record began in 1821 and continues to the present.
